Where funky and first class have fun all year round

For those of you that participated in LoCo Motion 2015 and think you know Daufuskie, your mind will be blown when you see a different side of the island!

Our three-day adventure starts with a 10-minute ferry ride from Harbour Town to Haig Point Landing, where you will be welcomed with drinks, food, games, photo scavenger hunts, and live entertainment on the lawn at the Strachan Mansion.

Which sits on the water and white sandy beaches. Can you picture it?

Our 10-mile adventure trek will take you through some of the most gorgeous views Haig Point and Daufuskie have to offer.

Including their waterfront golf courses, equestrian center, and stunning beach club (complete with LoCo happy hour!).

You might also get to meet Maggie, Haig Point’s resident ghost who resides in the historic lighthouse.

You’ll will never want to leave.

Without a bridge, Daufuskie Island has been able to continue as it has for centuries, immersed in a simpler time. Beautiful beaches, ancient oaks, and historical landmarks all give a rustic feel, while a flourishing arts scene keeps the spirit of the island alive and thriving.

This captivating mixture of new and old, tradition and progress means Daufuskie is the perfect destination to step back in time, unplug from the everyday, and reconnect with friends and family.

Located between Hilton Head Island and Savannah, Daufuskie Island is the southernmost sea island in South Carolina. It is 5 miles long by 2.7 miles wide – approximately 5,000 acres.

With 3.5 miles of pristine beachfront, Daufuskie is surrounded by the waters of the Calibogue Sound, the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic Ocean. Haig Point is located at the northern tip of the island.

Living on Haig Point

The residents of Haig Point have long declared their commitment to preserving a way of life unique to Haig Point and Daufuskie Island. The archaeological restoration of historic properties and passing along of folklore surrounding the history of the island proves this spirit is alive and well.

Haig Point and the sea island sensibility.

The pace and priorities of the sea islands set them apart, just as much as their breathtaking beauty. Being apart from the mainland, our home remains unspoiled in many ways. In a few recent decades the advantages of modern life have been integrated thoughtfully, carefully, with vision and taste.

Restored by a mile on the water.

The half-hour ferry ride washes away cares and distractions. Haig Point residents arrive transformed, even if they make the trip every day. It begins with the courtesy of the sea, the way the captain and mates escort them to the Island. The scenery is unforgettable – beauty that gets into your bones. Often dolphins provide your convoy and sea birds sing the overture to your arrival.

A different look at space and time

Shaded island roads and trails, lined with live oaks festooned with Spanish moss meander anywhere you’d like to go. Traffic is utterly non-existent. If you see a motor vehicle it’s probably got work to do – bikes and golf carts are what residents use to get around. Children play outdoors.
